Exam MB-700 validates the skills of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance, Supply Chain Management, and Commerce professionals who architect end-to-end enterprise solutions. It tests the ability to translate complex business requirements into secure, scalable, and reliable technical designs spanning deployment strategy, application lifecycle management (ALM), data management, security architecture, integration patterns, and business intelligence. The exam was updated on October 9, 2025 to reflect the expanded importance of Copilot and AI agents within the finance and operations apps ecosystem.
Passing MB-700 earns the Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365: Finance and Operations Apps Solution Architect Expert credential — the only Expert-level certification in the Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations track. It demonstrates mastery of the full Dynamics 365 ecosystem, Microsoft Power Platform, and deep domain knowledge in at least one industry vertical such as manufacturing, retail, or financial services.
This certification is designed for seasoned Dynamics 365 professionals who have already achieved an Associate-level certification and are moving into solution architect or senior consulting roles. Typical candidates include functional consultants, technical architects, ERP solution architects, and senior implementation leads who advise clients on solution design from pre-sales through go-live and beyond.
Ideal candidates have hands-on experience implementing Dynamics 365 Finance, Supply Chain Management, or Commerce, and are comfortable making high-stakes architectural decisions — including build-vs-buy trade-offs, integration pattern selection, data migration strategy, and security design. Those with backgrounds in multi-phase ERP rollouts or who currently advise on Microsoft FastTrack engagements are the strongest fit.
Microsoft requires candidates to hold one of the following Associate-level certifications before earning the Expert credential: Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Finance Functional Consultant Associate, Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management Functional Consultant Associate, Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management Manufacturing Functional Consultant Associate, or Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365: Finance and Operations Apps Developer Associate.
Beyond the formal prerequisite certification, candidates are expected to bring several years of practical implementation experience with finance and operations apps, working knowledge of Azure infrastructure and security concepts, familiarity with the Microsoft Success by Design framework, and broad exposure to the Dynamics 365 ecosystem including Power Platform integrations. Experience with multi-country or multi-entity deployments and the Microsoft FastTrack program is strongly recommended.
MB-700 is delivered through Pearson VUE and is available in English and Japanese. The exam does not publish a fixed number of questions; Microsoft typically describes it as 40–60 questions covering scenario-based and case-study formats alongside multiple-choice, drag-and-drop, and best-answer question types. The time allotted is 120 minutes. Candidates who take the exam in a non-native language may request an additional 30 minutes as an accommodation.
Scoring uses Microsoft's standard 100–1000 scale, and a score of 700 or greater is required to pass. The exam is not adaptive — all objectives are covered in a fixed structure across the four functional domains. The certification expires annually and must be renewed by passing a free online assessment on Microsoft Learn. Exam pricing is approximately $165 USD and varies by country or region.
The Dynamics 365: Finance and Operations Apps Solution Architect Expert credential is the highest-level certification in the Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations track and signals readiness for senior roles such as ERP Solution Architect, Principal Functional Architect, Technical Solutions Architect, and Independent Consultant. Architects certified at this level typically lead pre-sales engagements, govern full implementation lifecycles, and act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and delivery teams. Demand for Dynamics 365 architects has grown significantly as large enterprises accelerate cloud ERP migrations and multi-entity Dynamics 365 rollouts.
In the United States, salaries for Dynamics 365 Solution Architects range broadly: Indeed reports an average of approximately $130,000 per year, ZipRecruiter places the average around $145,000, and senior or principal-level roles frequently exceed $165,000 annually. Glassdoor data shows total compensation packages (including bonuses) can exceed $220,000 for experienced architects at large consultancies or enterprise clients. Microsoft's FastTrack program actively involves certified architects, providing additional visibility and access to Microsoft's enterprise customer base.
