When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials through our authentication provider (Clerk). If you sign in via a social provider (Google, GitHub, LinkedIn), we receive your name and email from that provider. When you use our practice quizzes, we store your quiz progress including questions answered, correct answers, and timestamps.
We use your information to: (a) provide and operate the Service, including tracking your quiz progress and personalizing your dashboard; (b) process payments and manage subscriptions; (c) send transactional emails related to your account; (d) analyze usage patterns to improve the Service; and (e) prevent fraud and abuse.
Your data is stored securely using Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure in the United States. Quiz progress is stored in DynamoDB with encryption at rest. Authentication data is managed by Clerk with industry-standard security practices. Payment processing is handled by Stripe through Clerk Billing. While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.
We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We only share data with third-party services as necessary to operate the Service.
We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. Our analytics tools may use cookies to track anonymous usage patterns. You can disable non-essential cookies in your browser settings, though this may affect some functionality.
We retain your account data and quiz progress for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or regulatory purposes.
You have the right to: (a) access your personal data; (b) correct inaccurate data; (c) request deletion of your data; (d) export your data in a portable format; and (e) withdraw consent for non-essential data processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@certcompanion.com.
CertCompanion is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
